We all have had at least one spirit guide for every human incarnation we have had on earth. Their role is to oversee our life path, to give us counsel, to help us, to warn us against danger and to be there in all capacities to support us regardless of our life choices (refer to my post on the scroll of destiny). They do not judge our actions because their previous human lifetimes have taught them to be empathetic towards the struggles of life on earth. They know of the challenges, problems, mistakes, temptations and fears that all humans deal with on a daily basis and they are waiting for us to give them the opportunity to help us. However they do not have the power to shield us from the life lessons we have written in our scroll of destiny because we chose to experience them. They do not interfere with our free will (not even God can take away our free will because he blessed all humans with it from the moment He created us) even though we may choose the path leading away from our destiny.
They communicate with us through telepathic messages or spiritually infused knowledge. It is recognized as sudden knowledge to a problem, challenge or question or an intuitive feeling. Such thoughts or feelings should be paid attention to because our Spirit guides know what lies ahead of us and the outcome of each path that we might take. They have access to our scroll of destiny and to the Akashic records so that they can make the best decision in guiding us. These feelings and knowledge that we receive are the parts of our destinies that are not fixed experiences and depending on if we learned from our previous life lessons we would either listen to our guides and avert the challenging path or ignore them and face the consequences of the path that lies ahead. Every spirit guide has a name and is either male or female and not androgynous like the angels.
You can ask them for their name (or names depending on if you have one or two spirit guides) and be alert to a certain name that you may see or hear repetitively. If it seems that no name is forthcoming (some names might be uncommon for the area that you live or because you live in a different era or have a different culture from them) then feel free to give them a nickname. Because they are your spirit guide they will respond to any human name you give them. And they are pleased when you ackowledge them and ask them to help you because that is their sole purpose.
As you become more accustomed to the idea of having a spirit guide you might converse more with them. It is wise to give them access to your thoughts at all times (because they are not mind readers and do not invade private thoughts unless asked) so that they can carry out their duties even in a public setting without having you look like you are talking to yourself. Also in times of crisis they can be there in an instant without you having to say a word. Spirit guides are recruited in this role by you because they are your best friend and one of your closest companions on the Other Side. Hence even though our memories of the Other Side have been repressed for the purposes of this lifetime, we can still be close friends with our spirit guide and allow this bond to grow and flourish into a relationship few humans have the privilege of knowing.
